More Jollibee Branches Opening in Canada
Jollibee has long been planning to set up shop in Canada. It has been previously announced that its first store will open in Toronto in 2015. However, after it was disclosed that the company had troubles finding the right location, the plan did not materialize.
Thankfully, Jollibee managed to launch one late last year. After Jollibee’s successful store opening at 1400 Ellice Ave. in Winnipeg in December, more are on the way. In fact the planned second store in Canada is also at Winnipeg, tentatively set at the Maples Area or near Northgate Mall.
Another Jollibee branch in Canada is expected to be established in Mississauga in Spring 2017, as part of Seafood City Supermarket at Heartland Town Center in Mavis Road. Seafood City itself is well-known host to Filipino restaurants such as Chowking, Red Ribbon, Tokyo Tokyo and Max’s.
Further Jollibee outlets are planned at Scarborough, Ontario and Edmonton, Alberta.
The aggressive expansion of Jollibee into Canadian territory comes as more Filipinos have immigrated in the Great White North. According to National Household Survey in 2011, there are 662,600 Filipinos in Canada, equivalent to 1.8% of the entire Canadian population.
