Riyadh Among 50 Safest Cities in the World

Riyadh is ranked among the world’s 50 safest cities, according to a report by the Economist Intelligence Unit.

The Safe Cities Index 2015 White Paper which used four indicators to evaluate safety of cities including digital security quality and rate of identity theft saw Riyadh ranking 46th in the list. Tokyo topped the list while Jakarta at the tail ed of the annual report.

In aforementioned indicator, Riyadh was ranked 43rd with 53.26 per cent. In health security which looks at life expectancy and rate of hospital beds to its population, Riyadh scored 53.33%. On infrastructure safety which covers road quality and other vital infrastructure, the city was rated 61.53 per cent. As for personal security which tackles more on conventional safety measures such as number of crime victims and police intervention, the city scored 60.26 per cent.

New York and Los Angeles topped the digital security category, and Zurich ranked first in health and infrastructure safety.
