A Filipina domestic worker is reportedly in a coma early Monday after she collapsed during a picnic in a local Hong Kong beach in a sweltering day, a report from The SUN said.
Mae Catin Paborada, 34, who hails from Tapas, Capiz, is confined at Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in Chai Wan district, after she collapsed in Shek O beach while taking the day off with friends.
Although friends suspect the victim suffered heatstroke in a day the Hong Kong Observatory issued a very hot weather warning, police recorded it as a “drunk person” case.
Paborada reportedly collapsed on the beach at 3:55pm on Sunday while having fun with a group of friends.
A spokesperson from the Police Public Relations Bureau said the woman was conscious while being taken to the hospital. However, friends who visited Paborada at the hospital last night said she was unconscious at the ICU, and was attached to a life support system. Doctors reportedly told them that the patient was in coma.
One of her friends who live on a same residential block shared on a Facebook post that Paborada had been drinking wine with a group of Filipinas at a barbecue party. The group later went swimming, but soon as Paborada got out of the water, she collapsed on the beach.
