More About Australia

A New Zealand-based Filipina accused of running an extensive immigration scam to help workers from the Philippines get into the country as dairy workers is set to reappear in court.

Loraine Anne Jayme, 35, who was arrested in October after an investigation by Immigration New Zealand found more than 1,000 Filipino dairy workers had been caught out by the scam, was due to appear before the Hamilton District Court Wednesday after failing to enter a plea at her last appearance.

She is facing 284 charges of dishonesty which include multiple counts of forgery, using tampered documents, supplying false information and obtaining them by deception.

Workers hoping to obtain visas in New Zealand reportedly paid thousands of dollars for their visas.
