Overseas Filipino workers whose jobs have been affected by the coronavirus pandemic can each avail of $200 (over P10,000) from the Department of Labor and Employment, the Philippine News Agency reported.
OFWs are among the recipients who also include displaced local workers and those who belong to the most vulnerable sectors during this public health emergency.
“..we have crafted an assistance program for our OFWs whose works were disrupted due to the Covid 19-pandemic. We are looking at about 70,000 OFWs who will be provided with ($200) in cash assistance each,” DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III said in a statement.
Affected OFWs who wish to avail of the cash assistance will have to:
1) Submit their certificate of employment issued by their agencies.
2) Submitted applications will be evaluated and processed by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) or the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
Filipinos working abroad are advised to get in touch with POLO offices in their host country. They can also visit the nearest OWWA regional office if they are currently in the Philippines.
