After Israel’s ninth President, Shimon Peres, passed away Wednesday morning after a massive stroke at a hospital near Tel-Aviv, his Filipino caregiver wrote a tender goodbye message on Facebook.
Ferdz Capacia, who served the 93-year-old statesman, referred to his employer as his “VIP boss” and said he will miss Peres’ smile and addressed him good night in Hebrew.
According to data from the Philippine Embassy in Israel, there are 31,000 documented Filipino workers in the country, most of them as caregivers. Rose Fostanes, a Filipina working as caregiver in Israel, won the X-Factor Israel in 2014.
However, estimates by migrant worker advocates say thousands of other Filipinos are employed in Israel as undocumented workers.
