The family of Fernando Peralta has been setting up his wake at home in Porac, Pampanga for the past two days. Peralta died of heart illness in Tel Aviv, Israel on May 25.
But conspicuously missing is his remains in a coffin. That’s because the family received the wrong cadaver and was forced to stage the wake using only Peralta’s framed image as a reminder of his presence.
June Peralta, Fernando’s younger brother said they received the cadaver box in a local funeral parlor in Guagua, Pampanga. But when the box was opened, the younger Peralta noticed that the remains was not that of his brother.
“Pagtingin namin ng ganyan,” June gestured to ABS-CBN News, “kahit anong distinguish ko, nung tingnan ko, hindi ito ang kapatid ko.”
Pointing to the framed photo of Fernando, June showed the mole on his brother’s face, and false teeth, features not found in the remains they saw in the funeral parlor.
The wrong cadaver was set to be returned to the airline company in Manila, as the Peralta family continues to seek help from the Philippine embassy in Israel.
Prior to his death, Fernando Peralta worked in Israel as a caregiver.
