A 44-year-old Filipina domestic worker was discovered deceased in her employer’s flat in Discovery Bay, having apparently hanged herself with a lengthy piece of fabric. The woman, who was reportedly single, had also been found with wrist lacerations, according to The SUN.
Authorities indicated that a suicide note was located near her remains, although the precise cause of death is still under investigation.
Preliminary inquiries suggest that she had been facing financial difficulties. Police records indicate that her employer contacted them around 7:30 PM on Wednesday, reporting that the helper was found injured in their residence on Seahorse Lane in Discovery Bay Phase 1. However, emergency responders who arrived at the scene declared the Filipina dead.
The Migrant Workers Office of the Philippine Consulate has confirmed the suicide and stated that they have reached out to the victim’s family in the Philippines.
This tragic event occurred just nine days after another Filipina domestic worker attempted suicide by cutting her wrists and overdosing on medication in her employer’s flat in Wu Kai Sha. The 33-year-old survivor had left a note citing financial issues.
A neighbor mentioned that the helper had been feeling hopeless due to a friend, from whom she had borrowed a significant amount of money, ceasing communication.
