3 Months For Manager Found Guilty for Groping Filipina Cleaner in UAE

An Egyptian manager has been jailed for three months for groping a Filipina cleaner while she was cleaning up his flat in the United Arab Emirates, a report from Gulf News said.

The Filipina cleaner employed by a cleaning contractor was deployed to the house of the 46-year-old Egyptian manager in March, to provide household cleaning service. The suspect earleir contracted the company to provide the service on an hourly basis.

When the woman reached the flat, the door was partly open so she entered at 2.30pm and started working. While she was ironing the clothes, the defendant arrived a few hours later and called her into his bedroom to dust it.
When the victim started cleaning up, the accused groped her backside and removed his hand quickly.

When she protested him, asking why he groped her, the Egyptian claimed that it happened by mistake. The cleaner then took her money and left.

At the Dubai Court of First Instance, the Egyptian was convicted for groping the Filipina cleaner.

Presiding judge Mohammad Jamal said the defendant, who pleaded not guilty, will be deported following the completion of his jail term.

“I was ironing when he called me to his bedroom and asked me to remove some dust that was in front of the bed. While I was cleaning, he groped my private parts and removed his hand very quickly. When I yelled at him, he claimed he touched me by mistake. Then he offered to pay me money and asked me to not report it to the police. I went to the kitchen; he followed me and paid me for the cleaning. Once I went downstairs, I called the
police,” she told prosecutors.

A police corporal said when he reached the building, the Filipina was crying. “We apprehended the defendant, who claimed during questioning that he touched her by mistake,” said the corporal.

The sentence remains subject to appeal.
