Filipina Nanny in Fails to Return to UK; Severed Head Found, Body Still Missing
A Filipino nanny who works in the UK for a Filipino family and failed to return abroad has been found decapitated in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija.
The severed head of 32-year-old Maribel Alpas, a Negrense overseas Filipino worker (OFW) was found in a pail by a farmer in Barangay San Fernando Sur, Cabiao, Nueva Ecija early this week.
Alpas is a native of Barangay Asia, Hinobaan, Negros Occidental, was scheduled to return to the United Kingdom last week.
Alpas has been working as a domestic helper for the couple, who hail from Nueva Ecija, for two years.
She was reportedly asked to pass by the couple’s house in Barangay Gomez, Sta Rosa, Nueva Ecjia to pick up some documents. She would then fly back to London from Clark Airport via Dubai, UAE. But four days later, on Mar. 25, Alpas’s severed head was discovered. Her passport, along with other documents, were also recovered near the head. Authorities have been trying to locate the victim’s body.
Chief Insp. Eric de Venancio, Cabiao police station chief, said their investigation is ongoing. He said an inquest was made for a man identified as the brother-in-law of Dennis Samson, Alpas’s male employer. The man, whose name police authorities refused to disclose, fetched Alpas at a bus terminal on Mar. 21.
A footage from a CCTV camera at a gasoline station in Sta. Rosa reportedly showed a multicab vehicle that picked up Alpas.
According her sister, Sheryl, Alpas sent her a text message at around 8 p.m. on March 20 saying she was bound for her employers’ town. That was the last text she received from Alpas. Upon inquiring her employer in London did her family learn Maribel never made it back there.
