Using data from Statistics Canada, Canadian Business has compiled a list of top 50 jobs in Canada according to a few factors, notably growth in number of positions and salary increases over the past half decade. Oil and gas industry occupied two of the top three ranked jobs in Canada, while education, healthcare and engineering related jobs also figured prominently.
Not all jobs are ranked as the organization considered only jobs that had median salary fo $60,000 or more, and whose number of employed individuals is at least 5,000. The final rank is based on a weighting of 25% to job growth, 25% to projected job demand, 40% to median wage and 10% to change in compensation. A few broad nonspecific categories were eliminated.
