The remains of a Filipino domestic worker in Kuwait were found inside a freezer at an apartment in Al-Shaab area, a report from Arab Times said. The body was believed to be kept inside the freezer for over one year.
Authorities who made the discovery had gone to the apartment to evict its tenant based on a court order. Once they entered the apartment, accompanied by the landlord and the building’s caretaker, they were shocked to find the corpse inside the freezer.
Officers quickly notified their colleagues at the General Department of Criminal Evidences to deposit the body to Forensics for autopsy in order to determine the cause and exact time of death. Samples of fingerprints were lifted at the scene to facilitate investigation.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Lebanese sponsor of the housemaid was wanted for a series of cases related to dud cheques, and he had left Kuwait since 2016 with the Syrian wife. There were traces on the deceased housemaid’s body indicating she was strangled to death amid torture.
