A Bahraini national has been arrested Friday over the death of a Filipina nurse in the Gulf state.
According to Deputy Chief Prosecutor of Muharraq Governorate, Abdullah Al Dossary, the 28-year-old suspect during interrogation confessed to stabbing the woman.
According to news sources, the victim was identified as Zairah Cañete, 38, working as a private nurse and based in Manama.
The suspect said during the questioning that he had a heated argument with the victim at her residence in Busaiteen, resulting in him killing the Filipina by stabbing her in the neck.
The incident happened early this week.
Investigators are reportedly looking into jealousy as the possible reason that could have triggered the fight between the suspect and the victim, but this remains unconfirmed.
The suspect will remain in custody while the case is being referred to a criminal court, said Al Dossary.
