A total deployment ban is now imposed for all Filipino workers bound for Kuwait. The order was made immediately after it was found out that the Kuwait OFW Jeanelyn Villavende was tortured and sexually abused by her employers before her death.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) Governing Board has signed a resolution to to effect the same according to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The deployment ban was recommended by Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III after the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) autopsy report showed that Villavende was not just tortured, but also sexually abused by her employers in the Gulf state.
