The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration has issued a follow up on its warning against fake job offers often spread via email or social media.

POEA said it has recently received a forwarded email notifying a recipient that he has been selected for a purported employment in Canada, with employment representatives allegedly already in the Philippines to interview applicants.

While the sender promises applicants need not pay placement and processing fees, applicants, however, are asked to pay P3,800 for slot reservation. Sender also claims of an existing partnership with a known licensed recruitment agency in the Philippines which supposedly conducts seminar and process employment documents.

The email, which features multiple job offers such as farm laborers, factory workers, fruit pickers, medical staff and engineers, entices applicants with above-market remuneration, paid vacation and 250% overtime pay.

To proceed, applicants are instructed to send the reservation fee through a money remittance agent.

The email contact suddenly disappears after applicants have successfully made money transfers.
