Applying as a skilled immigrant to come to Canada has never been easier than now. Using Express Entry you can find out if you may be eligible to immigrate to Canada. If you are, then you and other eligible applicants are pooled and ranked according to several factors. Top candidates then will be invited to apply and be able to apply for permanent residence.

Completing the profile, however, does not guarantee an invitation for permanent residence.

Express entry covers three economic immigration programs namely, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program and the Canadian Experience Class.

Before you make an online profile, you might want to read this information first to see if you are eligible.

  1. You need to have your results from you language tests. For English, the approved language tests are Canadian English Language Proficiency Index Program, specifically the CELPIP-General 2014 (CELPIP), and International English Language Testing System (IELTS). For French you can take the TEF: Test d’évaluation de français.
  2. If you took your education outside of Canada, your credentials will be assessed against Canadian Standards. This is not mandatory if you have recent work experience in Canada or in skilled trade. This also increases your chances of being invited.
  3. You also have to know the skill type of your work experience using Canadian standards or the National Occupation Classification.
