While anyone with adequate knowledge can help applicants who wish to immigrate to Canada may provide advice on their application, only professionals authorized by the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants can legally operate as a business and collect fees from applicants.
ICCRC maintains a registry of Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultants and Regulated International Student Immigration Advisors to identify the professionals it regulates and to disclose their fitness to practice.
Applicants who wish to verify the validity of an immigration advisor should check the registry for details of an immigration consultant or advisor.
Applicants may enter the name of the consultant, his or her company name, and RCIC number in the spaces provided.
Immigration Consultants and Advisors to Canada Status Check
Applicants may check the status of an immigration consultant under ICCRC. If the status is active, then the consultant is currently authorized by the ICCRC to operate as a business of providing professional advice to applicants.
If the status is marked as Administrative Revocation, the consultant has failed to maintain his or her own standing due to various reasons (failure to comply with audit requirements, non-payment of membership dues, and so on).
If the status is marked as Administrative Suspension, the consultant has failed to complete a required course, paid a fine, or responded to an inquiry by the Council.
Therefore, it is in the applicant’s best interest to deal with an immigration consultant or advisor whose status is Active.
