American Man Faces Charges Over Plot to Kill Filipina Wife, Daughter Over Insurance

An American man has been arrested and charged for allegedly plotting to murder his wife and daughter in order to claim insurance money.

A probable cause synopsis document obtained by ABS-CBN News by Snohomish County Prosecuting Office in Monroe, Washington state showing Jeffery Lytle, 42, sending a text message to a certain “Shayne” apparently greenlighting the murder attempt of Rhoda Mee Funtanilla Lytle, his wife of more than 6 years, and their 4-year-old daughter.

“Hey Shayne how’s it going. You remember you said that you would help me kill my wife. I’m going to take you on that offer,” the Jeffery’s message read. It added that Jeffery’s wife’s insurance was worth $1 million and if Shayne wanted a bonus, he can also kill their daughter whose life insurance is worth half a million dollars.

The text also showed defendant’s request to his cohort to make the murder appear like it was a robber gone wrong or an accident. In return for Shayne’s efforts, the defendant agreed to split everything with him 50/50.

However, the message was sent to an unintended recipient, Robert Alexander, Lytle’s former employer who immediately called 911 and reported the apparent “murder for hire” proposal text to the police, the synopsis read.

Jeffery was arrested and charged Wednesday with domestic violence and two counts of criminal solicitation for murder in the first degree. His bond was set at $1 million.

The defendant initially denied sending any text message to anyone. However, when he was confronted, (he) admitted he had authored the text in question but never sent it to anyone and that it was just him ‘venting’ his anger at his wife.”

He claimed he had no intention of ever harming his wife and young daughter and denied any life insurance was in effect. He added that he only composed the message and left it in the “drafts” folder and said that it may have been sent out by his daughter to Alexander, accidentally.

ABS-CBN News has reached out to Rhoda Mee and is awaiting for her response as of press time.
