A Filipino-American Lakers fan left an NBA game $95,000 richer after hitting his half court heave as the Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Memphis Grizzlies at Staples Center Tuesday night.
In an article at NBA.com, Jerald Acoba, 30, from Tulare, Calif., participated in the Aria Big Shot Jackpot by attempting to shoot the ball from the halfcourt in the intermission between the third and fourt quarters of the game.
If that wasn’t enough, Acoba expressed his jubilation on Instagram after high-fiving Lakers stars such as D’Angelo Russell, Julius Randle, Jordan Clarkson, Nick Young and Lou Williams.
Won Big Shot Jackpot $95k at the Laker game! I'd like to thank everyone who prayed and believed in me. Thanks for the continued love and support, still feels like a dream…..best part was high fiving @dloading @juliusrandle30 @jordanclarksons @swaggyp1 @louwillville #aria #mgm #lakers #bigshotjackpot
It was indeed a celebration for him and other fans after the Lakers later beat the Grizzlies 116-102.
Acoba, who identifies himself as a Filipino in his Instagram account, took the shot between the third and fourth quarters as part of the Aria Big Shot Jackpot.
“She’s always been there for me when I need her,” Acoba said in the NBA.com article. “She’s always there to help me out. It’s my turn to repay the favor to her.”
