Immigration Agent Ordered Dismissed For Harassing British Retiree in the Philippines
An agent of the Bureau of Immigration has been dismissed for harassing a British national who wished to retire in the Philippines under the government’s retirement program.
Bureau of Immigration chief Ronaldo Geron said he ordered the prompt dismissal of Emmanuel Ambrona for gross violation of office rules and loss of trust and confidence.
British national Trevor Fawcett, Geron said, complained that Ambrona paid him a visit in his home in Cavite in February apparently to investigate the legality of his stay in the Philippines.
Fawcett said he showed his passport bearing an “indefinite” Philippine Retirement Authority (PRA) visa to Ambrona. A valid ID with expiration in August 2018 was also showed to the BI man.
However, Fawcett claimed that Ambrona continued to press him and asked about his finances, particularly the amount he received when he sold his company. Ambrona also reportedly took photos of Fawcett’s girlfriend.
