Filipina Domestic Worker Arrested, Deported After Letting BF Get Inside Employer’s Home in KSA
A Filipino domestic worker in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia has been arrested and eventually got deported after her employer reported her to authorities after she was caught bringing her boyfriend inside the house, according to an exclusive report by GMA News.
The incident took place last week, according to Roda, a liaison officer of Saudi Recruitment Agency which deployed Shiela (not her real name), the helper.
The agency’s manager addressed the problem and talked to the employer to withdraw the charge as it promised to send a new helper to replace Sheila.
The incident has been promptly reported to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office.
Labor Attache Nasser Munder on Tuesday said Sheila, 24, met her boyfriend through Facebook and has been letting him in her employer’s house frequently during times when her boss is out of the house. Thankfully, the employer caught the boyfriend at the living room and not inside the bedroom, which would presumably carry a heavier penalty.
Munder reiterated a reminder to OFWs especially those who work at home to respect the host country’s culture and refrain from committing acts that are prohibited/ari nilang ikapahamak.
Munder said.
A coordination between POLO in Jeddah and Sheila’s agency resulted in the successful repatriation of the Filipina domestic worker last week.
