Filipino Amnesty Applicant Gets 6-Month Job Seeker Visa in UAE

As the amnesty program in the United Arab Emirates rolls on to its third week of implementation, Filipinos who have overstayed in the country certainly took the opportunity being offered to them.

One of them is Rollie Gutierrez managed to secure a six-month visa to continue his job search in the UAE.

Gutierrez, who overstayed for 14 months, struggled with the uncertainty if his previous employer will issue him a visa.

“Hindi naman ako nawalan ng trabaho… hindi lang nagvisa yung mga kumpanya ko dati… may hawak nga akong 3 offer letters but sad to say nagamit lang din talaga ang visa ko,” explained Gutierrez.

Upon learning about the UAE amnesty program this year, Gutierrez felt relieved no that he can continue his job hunting legally.

“Answered prayer po ang UAE amnesty,” he said.

Gutierrez who previously filed an application to get his 6-month visa, prepared the following documents:

1. Valid passport and a copy of it
2. Latest Emirates ID as well as a copy of it
3. Passport-sized photo.

He said he was advised by Tasheel to tell fellow Filipinos who don’t have their Emirates ID to proceed to Emirates Identification Authority.

After he paid an application fee of AED 84, Gutierrez was advised to wait for three working days.
Upon his return, Gutierrez was asked to pay another Dh 84 to complete the process of changing his status. He clarified that there’s no longer any requirement of paying Dh 640.

“Bale 168 dirhams lang ang total na nabayaran ko,” Gutierrez said.

The UAE Amnesty program runs until October 31, from Sundays to Thursdays, 8:00 am to 8:00 pm with 9 centers across the UAE for those who wish to go home, as well as dozens of Tasheel centres and Amer centres for those who wish to change their status and secure their 6-month visa.
