Employer Fails to Pay Wage of Sick Filipina Helper in Kuwait After 14 Years
After serving her employer in Kuwait for the past 14 years, a Filipina domestic worker who wanted to go home was forced to leave the house without receiving her compensation.
In a video shared on YouTube, the OFW named Corazon, a native of Pikit, Cotabato, said she never received any compensation during her tenure of service.
“Pinalayas ako ngayon. Sabi niya, ‘lumayas ka di ako maghahatid sayo. Walang pera,” she recalled what her employer said.
Corazon said she wanted to go home due to her illness.
“Ayaw akong pauwiin. May sakit naman ako eh. Masakit yung tiyan ko pati yung likod ko, pati yung katawan ko, pati mga braso ko,” the Filipina said.
Prior to departing from her employer’s home, Corazon said her boss attempted to confiscate her mobile phone and passport.
After more than a decade working abroad, Corazon failed to recall the name of her local recruitment agency as she seeks help from the Philippine embassy in Kuwait.
Corazon said she already has a plane ticket to the Philippines. She is now seeking for financial help for her ticket to Cotabato.
