Filipino Driver in HK Found Dead in Apparent Suicide
A 34-year-old Filipino driver was reportedly found dead hanging from the ceiling of his room inside his employer’s house in Hong Kong in the morning of July 3, The SUN reported.
A police spokesman said the body of the victim, surnamed Pedroso, was discovered by his brother who also works as a domestic helper at 7:42am in his Chinese employer’s house in Shouson Hill Road, Wong Chuk Hang.
No suicide note was found.
According to an officer of the Assistance to Nationals section of the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong, Pedroso is married with two children and a native of Ajuy, Iloilo. The Consulate was notified by Pedroso’s brother who also works for the same employer.
According to his brother, Pedroso reportedly mentioned that he had been depressed by a family problem.
Pedroso’s family has already been notified while his brother is doing the paperwork for the repatriation of the victim’s remains and the benefits due his family from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
The body of the victim was taken to Victoria Public Mortuary in Kennedy Town where it will undergo a post-mortem examination. Police are still investigating.
