Apply Directly to Citizenship and Immigration Canada&#8217;s Express Entry Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You may apply directly at the agency through its Express Entry program under the following entry categories:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Canadian Experience Class &#8211; a program that allows foreigners with Canadian work experience to become permanent residents.<\/li>\n<li>Federal Skilled Trades Program &#8211; a program for foreigners who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade.<\/li>\n<li>Federal Skilled Worker Program &#8211; a program for foreigners who want to become permanent residents with formal education and whose occupation falls under the National Occupation Classification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You can also apply directly to Citizenship and Immigration Canada for:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed people &#8211; people who wish to establish business presence in Canada.<\/li>\n<li>Sponsoring your family &#8211; qualified Canadian residents who wish to bring their family members into Canada.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To apply for Express Entry, here are the steps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Apply Through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Note: This program has not been accepting new applications since <strong>August 2015 until January 27, 2016<\/strong> to prevent queue of applications from growing further as it assesses current applications submitted.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you have determined you have the skills in demand in Alberta, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) may be something you can consider. Under this nominee program, there are a few options depending on your eligibility.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Employer Driven Stream &#8211; This program is for Alberta employers who want to retain a foreign worker on a permanent, full-time basis where there is a challenge finding Albertans\/Canadians to fill the position.<\/li>\n<li>Strategic Recruitment Stream &#8211; This program is for candidates who have a valid trade certificate in a Compulsory or Optional Trade in Alberta issued or recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT).<\/li>\n<li>Self-Employed Farmer Stream &#8211; This program is for candidates with proven farm management skills, with sufficient financial resources and invest primarily in farming business in Alberta.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applying for permanent residence in Alberta through the AINP is a two-step process:<\/p>\n<p>Step 1 &#8211; Apply to the AINP and be nominated.<br \/>\nStep 2 &#8211; Apply to CIC as a Provincial Nominee.
