It manages applications under these federal programs:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pinoy-ofw.com\/canada\/1297-selection-factors-federal-skilled-worker-program.html\">Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)<\/li>\n<li>Canadian Experience Class (CEC)<\/li>\n<li>Part of the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to Canada\u2019s 2023 report, 120,770 people (including family members) became permanent residents through Express Entry.<\/p>\n<p>Top 3 countries of accepted applicants in 2023:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>India \u2013 54,015<\/li>\n<li>Nigeria \u2013 9,200<\/li>\n<li>China \u2013 5,115<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Philippines was 8th with 2,590 new residents in 2023 \u2014 similar to the past two years: 2,235 in 2022 and\u00a02,940 in 2021.<\/p>\n<h2>Plan to cut overall immigration numbers<\/h2>\n<p>Even with the need for skilled workers, Canada is lowering its total immigration targets due to public concerns. Many citizens say too many newcomers are causing higher housing costs and pressure on services like healthcare.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the new plans:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2025: From 500,000 \u2192 395,000<\/li>\n<li>2026: From 500,000 \u2192 380,000<\/li>\n<li>2027: From 500,000 \u2192 365,000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>So while fewer people overall may be accepted, those with needed skills \u2014 including from the Philippines \u2014 still have good chances under Express Entry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canada is reducing the total number of immigrants it will accept, but it still needs people with specific job skills to fill labour shortages.
