Filipinos in central America are “safe” following the flooding and landslides brought about by tropical storm “Agatha” on May 29, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.
“The embassy was able to contact a number of Filipinos from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, who said they were all safe,” Philippine Ambassador to Mexico Francisco Ortigas III said.

The storm killed at least 131 people in Central America. Dozens are still missing while thousands lost their homes.
Emergency crews are struggling to reach isolated islands cut off by washed-out roads and collapsed bridges.
Tropical Storm Agatha made landfall near the Guatemala-Mexico border on May 29 with winds up to 45 miles per hour (75 kilometers per hour).
