Teachers’ Group Plans Suit vs Universal Placement International

A teacher union in Baton Rouge says more legal action is planned against a California-based business that brought hundreds of Filipino teachers to Louisiana to work in public schools.

The Louisiana Federation of Teachers, the American Federation of Teachers and the Southern Poverty Law Center have set a Thursday news conference to talk about the plans.

The company is Universal Placement International. Among other complaints, the unions have accused the company of charging the teachers excessive, illegal placement fees.

In April, a state labor department judge ordered the company to refund fees that the union estimates will total $1.8 million. The company’s attorney said that ruling would be appealed.

  1. The plaintiffs under oath all admitted that their claim on complaint did not really happen. Not human trafficking, no racketeering, etc.. therefore, the defendants will counter sue… we want to thank ingrid for doing such a poor job in the deposition. The other plaintiffs under oath are as bad… hu.hu.
