FILIPINA Aiza Marie Orquia could be set for stardom after being crowned Miss July Rose 2010.
The 23-year-old sports enthusiast beat off competition from 15 other hopefuls to claim the crown in one of Bahrain’s most popular beauty pageants.
Filipino-American Zephani Fair, 17, finished first runner-up and Indian Dipti Chandhoke, 25, was the second runner-up in the event, held at the Baan Saeng Thai restaurant auditorium, Adliya.
Some 1,000 people turned up to see the event, which featured participants from Bahrain, India, the Philippines, Kenya, Ghana, the UK and the US.
The 18th annual July Rose pageant saw the main winners presented with prizes such as air tickets, electronic items, jewellery vouchers, gift hampers, health club memberships, dinner vouchers and other gifts.
Con-testants competed in three rounds – Casual, Evening Gown and Question and Answers.
Other awards on the night included the crowning of Ms BMMI, Ms Catwalk, Ms Perfect Smile, Ms Flawless, Ms Beautiful Hair, Ms Photogenic and Ms Popular awards.
Bahrain-based Latin dance duo Estrellas de la Salsa also made an appearance during the show, performing Salsa and Bachata dances alongside the El Yowm Productions dance troupe and Little S.
