An 11-man jury sentenced two Ecuadorians to life imprisonment after finding them guilty of first degree murder committed on an Ifugao overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada sometime in October, 2007.

Reports from Filipino newspapers in Canada showed that the 11-man jury found suspects Christian Figueroa and Fabian Loayza-Penaloza guilty of murdering Locelun Dulnuan, who was then 27 years old. Dulnuan hails from Hingyon town.
The verdict was handed down by the jury recently and the suspects were meted the maximum penalty of life imprisonment because death penalty was abolished in Canada in 1996.
The victim was found lifeless in his employer’s mansion after she was strangled with copper wire. Valuable items in the residence were reported missing after the incident.
The jury’s decision brought happiness to the Dulnuan’s family, especially to her mother who personally went to Canada purposely to closely monitor the hearing of the case which shocked the Filipino community in the different parts of the world.
